Zorbak, the Ebil Blue Moglin!

This weekend, the DoomWood story continues. Artix has discovered that there is a new undead threat in DoomWood and is racing to join you in smashing wave after wave of crunchy undead soldiers... and you HAVE to stop him.
If you don't understand WHY you should be keeping Artix from doing battle what he does best then you should go play last week's chapter of DoomWood right now!
A lot of people have been asking about Vordred the Paladin Slayer. They haven't figured out a way to defeat him.
People have said that if you have 3 Palis or a Pali and 3 healers or if you turn the sound off then you can defeat him. Those folks are either mistaken or they are yanking your chain on purpose.
Vordred CANNOT BE DEFEATED!
You may ask, "Then why add him into the game if he can't be defeated?. Because Artix, Alina and I did not want you to take our words for it. It's one thing to say "Oh, this bad guy is an undefeatable evil. Watch out. OOOOoooOOOOooOOOOoo!" but when you get your rear handed to you over and over again by a guy who is more skulls than anything else, it's something else entirey. Vordred cannot be defeated by any known method on Lore.
This weekend you will journey deeper into DoomWood past the undead Chopping Maul (get it?) to the home of the one and only ebil, blue moglin... Zorbak.
The first time you entered the DoonWood Necropolis (in DragonFable) you couldn't have done it without Zorbak's... uh..."help". Maybe he has some information on Vordred and whomever created him to defeat the Paladin Order.
Oh Yeah...
We are also finally raising the level cap to 40 this weekend!
Quibble Coinbiter's DoomWood Shop!
Once again, Quibble Coinbiter is heading back to Battleon this weekend to set up shop.
He's fully restocked with a bunch of DoomWood, undead and other themed (never-before-seen, slightly used) rares and items. As usual, MOST (or possibly ALL) of his items will be AC items so now is the time to renew your supply if you are running low.
Normally Quibble's arrivals seem to line up with the arrival of a new Chaos Lord or Chaos Beast... but on rare occassions, like this Friday, he's just in the neighborhood and has the goods to sell.

NEXT WEEK... (as in NOT this week)... NECROMANCER CLASS RETURNS!
It was one of the favorite parts of the PTR experience for most of those who helped us test. The Necromancer!
NEXT WEEK, it will be returning to AQW with a whole new set of powers... the Tower of Necromancy.Here's the bet part... it will be usable by ANYONE. That's right, Necromancer is for both Members and Non-Members!
We've decided to try an few interesting things with this class. First off it will be a PET class. That means that you will be able to summon a base skeleton pet who will do your fighting for you. You will cast necromantic spells on your pet to deal more damage to your opponent, return mana to you or even steal your foe's lifeforce.
This means that we will also be (eventually, not next week) adding a new type of Item to AQW, Battle Pets. Pet classes like Necromancer (and future pet classes) will be able to equip these pets to attack for them, and use their skills to help their companions or undead slaves fight. Equippable Battle Pets might even have special skills that only that pet can use.
As they are Pets, almost all Battle Pets will be MEMBER ONLY, however the base pet that comes with the class will be usable by anyone. Next week, however, you should be able to summon the Basic Skeleton to fight for you using Necromancer.
Something else that we are trying... 2 different ways to get the Necromancer Class.
The first way will require a LOT of hard work. You will need to reach DoomWood Reputation Rank 10 to get one of the items that you require to obtain this class... THEN you will have to battle your way through the Tower of Necromancy. If you survive the trials you will be awarded the class.
The second way to obtain the class is buying it with ACs. No muss, no fuss, no rank, no nearly-impossible tasks to compplete... just slip the Tower Necromancers their asking price and POOF... the class is yours.
We've never done an AC class before, and I didn't think we ever would due to some complications in the AQW engine but our amazing coding team has broken down that barrier and it has become possible. We know that a LOT of people would rather pay ACS and save the time and effort so we are giving them that option.
Other than the AC/NON-AC nature of the classes they will not be different in any way. In fact, you can even get both if you want to but you will need to rank each class up seperately.
NOTE: All of this could change at any moment. It's currently in production so we could encounter some game crashing bug that sets us back a week or more, and we don't know the AC price for the AC version of the class yet.
Sadly, if you DID test the class in PTR you will NOT be able to keep the ranks that you earned there.
The only reason I'm telling you guys about this is that it's pretty exciting and Yorumi has not encountered any massive roadblocks so far. Fingers crossed!
Keep in mind that DoomWood will ALSO have another MEMBER-ONLY class coming as the zone progresses. Keep reading the Design Notes for more details on that!

1v1 PvP FINALLY!
The Fall of Aeris Battlespire.
True to form we are beginning the Doomwood Zone as brutally as possible... with one on one Player versus Player combat in the Doomwood Arena.
Once King Alteon declared that no blood would be spilled between heroes either on the land or in the seas of his realm... but there are always loopholes. Soon arose the Aeris Battlespire. A massive floating citadel (which was neither on the land or sea) with battle arenas sprouting from its massive arms like ripe fruit.
It quickly became a proving ground for the worlds greatest fighters who would step into the arena for honor and glory and fight tooth and nail for the title of arena champion and all of the rich rewards that came with the title.
When Sepulchure finally stepped out of the darkness and cast his evil shadow across Lore, much of King Alteon's lands came under attack. Sepulchure might have even destroyed the good King if not for Drakath chosing that exact moment to unleash his chaotic influence on the world (what is more chaotic than introducing a new threat at the very moment when two evenly matched foes are facing each other?).
During that long and deadly war Aeris Battlespire chose to side with Good against Evil and they attempted to lay siege to Sepulchure's flying dracolich castle. The battle was short and brutal and Aeris Battlespire fell to the ground in flames.
Since the ruins fell into the cursed lands of Doomwood, not even the most evil of Lore's great heroes has dared set out in search of them. Noone ever heard from the once great arena again... until today.

How 1v1 PvP Works
There are two ways to fight a 1v1 PvP battle.
1) 1v1 Strangers: Use the button in Battleon to travel to the Doomwood Arena. Once there speak with Dumoose, the PvP Master. One of his buttons reads "1v1 Strangers". This will eventually out you in que for a 1v1 battle against a random foe who has also qued up. Our matchmaking system looks for the best possible match for your level and tosses you into a random Doomwood Battle Arena. The fight is over when one of you is defeated.
2) 1v1 Friends: Right now, the only way to battle a specific friend (or foe) is to use the /JOIN function. Just arrange to face your opponent in either doomarenaa-, doomarenab-, doomarenac- or doomarenad- then type in a room number higher than 1000.
Example: Hey Alina, battle me! /join doomarenac-4132
You will both be sent to doomarenac in the 4132 instance of the map. Be sure to pick a very random number OVER 1000. Chances are arena 1111 and 1234 will already be taken. Use your head.
How Do I Get 1v1 PvP Gear?
Speak to Dumoose to view all of the special PvP gear set up just for 1v1 players. You will need to earn 1v1 PvP Trophies to buy the gear (all designed by Dage).
Dumoose has a daily quest. Accept his quest and gather TEN 1v1 victories. After TEN wins, return to Dumoose and turn in the quest for a PvP Trophy. Come back tomorrow for another trophy, etc. Save up trophies for the item that you want!
Things To Remember:
1) Keep Your Honor. If you're about to lose to someone and you log out (regequit), it doesn't cost them anything. They can get another win from someone else in 1-3 minutes. All it does is make you look like a fool who has no honor and can't take defeat with grace.
2) Keep Your Cool. Nobody LIKES to lose but some people know understand that someone HAS to lose in PvP and there is a 50/50 chance that it will be you. If you get defeated, don't get angry. Equip one of Reens' potions and get even. If someone is yelling nonsense at you, be the better person. Just click on their name and use the IGNORE function. If they are WAY out of line, report them THEN ignore them.
3) Keep Your Forum Login Handy: If you notice a bug (in PvP or anywhere else for that matter), REPORT IT ON THE BUGS THREAD! Please remember that posting bugs on Facebook or Twitter doesn't do anything. we NEEEEED Bug Reports on the forums to fix bugs.

Friday The 13th Rares Still Here!
The Friday the 13th event is still alive and going strong. If you missed out on it last week you still have a chance to get some of the great Voltaire and Deady items and drops from the Friday the 13th Event!
Remember that almost all of the items will be rare once the event closes. I say ALMOST because Voltaire has requested that we upgrade the Vorutanian Key Blade itself from a basic rare to an ARTIFACT. This means that it will someday return to the game at random times (probably when Voltaire visits again) but unlike a seasonal rare you will never know when it will return. It may be years before we see it again.
For those of you who have not checked it out you, you can actually BUY the Vorutanian Key Blade that Voltaire himself wears around his neck in real life!

HeroSmash Founder Is Coming To A Close!
If you're not a Founder in HeroSmash yet, TIME IS RUNNING OUT!
SO many people ask us EVERY DAY how to become Founders in AQW. We tell them you need a time machine because ONCE YOU MISS IT, YOU MISS OUT FOREVER!
DO NOT be one of those sad souls. You still have until the end of this month to become a HeroSmash Founder but the end of the month will be here before you know it!
Also, all of you aspiring film-makers out there, don't forget that we are STILL looking for new Player based NPCs to add to HeroSmash.
Here's a tip: Eventually a lot of the really, really, REALLY GOOD movie makers on YouTube will find out that they can actually get themselves inside a video game which hundreds of thousands of people see every week and say to themselves, "Hey, I could get into this video game!".
You want to get in on this before that happens, because when that happens then our standards will go WAY up. You guys have already submitted a lot of great stuff but some of those folks on YouTube are crescent fresh.

Poisons, Potions, and Peril
King Alteon is in danger, and so is Alina
King Alteon's Royal Potionmistress has returned from extensive travelling just in time to see an attempt on her beloved sovereign's life when his foodtaster is poisoned! Her long-time loyalty doesn't save Alina from being a suspect; after all, she IS a master at mixing poisons and potions.
When her aide is poisoned as well, Alina has to clear her name of attempted regicide AND assistant-assault. An acquaintance well-versed in esoteric poisons is HER chief suspect, but she'll need your help to prove it!
Friday the 13th is Fast Approaching

Skyguard Academy in Peril
Higher Education means Better Plotting
Head to the Academy in our latest update to the member-only Skyguard storyline! Before you arrive, you'll meet the "Master." It's not his real name, but it's the one you'll use if you don't want to relive your nightmares everytime you close your eyes. His only concern is causing Chaos, and he plans to use the Skyguard to do so!
He's sure that if he makes enough mayhem, Drakath will be sure to choose him as the next ChaosLord. If you value Stratos' safety and sanity, you'll do everything in your power to stop him!
Grand Gear in a Royal Wedding Shop
Earlier today, Prince William of Wales married the love of his life, Kate Middleton in Westminster Abbey. We wanted to celebrate the joyous occasion with the happy couple, but we have a release to do! So instead, we've released a shop full of wedding wear that's fit for a Prince or Princess!

A New Villain Takes to the Skies
The Member-only Skyguard storyline starts this week!
The Skyguard are King Alteon's elite aero-martial corps, patrolling the skies and keeping the land clear of do-baders. (Like do-gooders, but... evil.) But what happens when a rogue citizen turns on their country and King? What happens when vendettas grow out of control, when all they see in the forces of good are a means to their own twisted end? You'll find out!
Members are invited to journey to the Skyguard Academy this weekend to begin an all-new storyline* full of madness, mayhem, and maybe a little misdirection. Or not. You'll have to play to see! But whatever you expect is going to happen, think again, because the twists and turns in this tale will take you on a ride across Lore and into the depths of a tortured mind!
* Storyline will be updated one week a month to let us release other awesome content, too!

FEAR CHASER EVENT!
Fear Chaser Event & Event Rare Shop are now open!
The Fear Chaser event featuring the music and voice talents of Ayi Jihu, is now LIVE! As usual we Event Rare Shop with TONS of items, several voice-acted cutscenes, an achievement and a bunch of great drops!
I should warn you that the Fear Garb is one of the laggiest armors that we've ever created but that is the price for having animated spiders crawling all over your body and in and out of your rib-cage and having animated lava pouring out of your eye sockets!
By request, we've increased the room size to 10 to hold more of you and your friends. Ayi asked me to pass on her thanks to everyon who logged in and asked her all of those fantastic questions! You really made her day by just showing up to the event!
Remember, once the event closes, it will become Member Only! Members will still be able to get the monster drops and the achievement anytime they like by accessing the event re-run in their Book of Lore but the Event Rare shop closes with the event and takes all of these items with it!

I Tried For 20 Minutes To Come Up With A Better Title
We have a LOT of stuff going on again, so I'm going to tell YOU guys about some of the things you might care about. Keep in mind that for everything we TELL you that we are working on there are abiut 5 other things that can't tell you about.
A Call For Moderators!
Want to be a mod? Want to spend hours a day not getting paid while helping your fellow players, catching cheaters, hackers, scammers and muting people who use abusive language?
If you answered YES to either of these questions, then you should probably check yourself into the nearest psychiatric hospital as soon as you can, but I also have exciting news for you.
Reens and Stratos (the Lead Moderator and her Moderater Majordomo) are looking for new mods for AQWorlds (and HeroSmash), and now is your chance to apply! One thing Reens needs to stress - you MUST be over 18 year old. If you are under 18, if you don't include your age, or if you start with "I'm not 18 yet, but..." the application will not be considered.
What they need you to included in your email is:
1. Your real name, age, and country of residence.
2. AQW Game account name and email address
3. Master Account name and email address
4. Forum account name and email address if one is entered. (not required to have one)
5. Languages you speak/read
6. C.V. (Resume) *please note we'd like the CV in English.
Please send your COMPLETE application to [email protected] . If the application is not complete, they toss it out. And please - one application per person.

The Next Limited Quantity Shop
Announcing the NEXT Limited Quantity Shop featuring Dage's Prometheus Set!
The next LQS opens at 1:00 PM EST (GMT -4 now thanks to Daylight Savings Time) on April 1st (As much as I love messing with people, this is not an April Fools Joke). The Shop Will Include 5000 of the Prometheus Armor, 5000 of the Prometheus Helm, 5000 of the Prometheus Back Item, 5000 of the Prometheus Sword (shown above). Each of the items listed above will cost AdventureCoins. It will also include a few extra items of various prices and quantities (some AC some not) and the rest of the unsold Scythes from the last LQS.
There will be a female version of the armor. It is NOT color custom. Prices will be higher than Quibble's (as one would expect from a Black Market vendor) but may or may not be announced ahead of time.
You may be asking yourself why we're opening the shop at 1:00 PM when a lot of you are still in school or work or doing something else. I told you that I would roll a random time EACH TIME we opened the LQS to give everyone a fair shot of being first to get the items.
I rolled my dice and the dice do not lie.
I rolled a 13 on my beloved D20. That means 13:00 hours or 1:00 EST. If I rolled a 20 (CRIT) I would roll my D4, if I get a 4, we stick with 20:00 hours. If i get a 1-3 it means I roll again and add the D4 to the D20 for 21:00 - 00:00 (that's 24) hours.
I could have just written a random number generator to pick the hour but dice are more fun. There is a reason I wanted to be the Luck enhancement vendor.
with 5000 rather pricey AC items they will probably last more than 24 hours, but if they do not... maybe next time I will randomly roll the perfect for YOU!
Quibble Is Staying

HeroSmash Alpha Phase 3 TONIGHT!
If you haven't been following Artix's Play-By-Play on over at HeroSmash, tonight we open our newest game to anyone who has EVER upgraded in any of our games (even EXPIRED AQw upgrades), Anyone who has ever purcahsed AdventureCoins (AExtras are not purchases), anyone who has ever purchased Battleon Points for their Master Account, or anyone who has ever purchased Varium for EpicDuel.
You will also that account attached to your Master Account.
If you meet these requirements then you WILL be able to play HeroSmash Alpha Phase 3 starting tonight at 6:30 EST and experience level 10, try out the new mix-n-match powers system that lets you pick and equip your own powers to customize your hero (or villain's) abilities!

After thousands of years, Tibicenas the Chaos Djinn is FREE and seeking revenge for his millenia spent as an outcast.
Follow Zhoom to the Djinn World, Pit your friendly Djinn, Saahir against Tibicenas to save The Efreet... and all of Lore from the insane corruption of Chaos.
There will be FOUR new armors in this release including a Chaos Lord Tibicenas Armor and Zhoom's Sandsea Ranger outfit! Remember that if you haven't completed all of the Sandsea Quests then you WON'T BE ABLE TO BATTLE THE CHAOS LORD!

The Sandsea Saga continues as Sek-Duat, the Mummy master of the Sandsea, leads you to the Cave of Wanders. This maze may contain exactly what you need to fight Zahart and Tibicenas... another Djinn of your own.
Miltonius went all out this week in his design of the Kalestri Worshipers, a clan of noble creatures normally, but THESE have been corrupted by the forced of darkness and freeing them from the spell might be the only way to the prize!
In the Sandsea rep shop you will find a host of new items and 2 brand new armors... the Anubis Armor from Polistar and Dage's amazing Kalestri Worshiper armor and helm!
I think we should all give Dage a hand... since he gave you four of them. WAKKA WAKKA!
This armor is so impressive that we have decided to increase its rarity by making is a pretty high Sandsea Rep value AND sells for ACs (although at 400 ACs, you'll never find a more impressive armor this cheap anywhere else).
There are also a TON of drops from the new area, including the Sek-Duat armor itself!
Is Moderator?
Some people have noticed the Is Moderator option when they click on someone's nameplate. We've added this feature for increased security. If the gold name wasn't enough proof for you just check the Is Moderator option and see.
Remember, AE staff will NEVER ask you for your password or offer you free stuff in exchange for your password.
HeroSmash Trailer Premiere & Shop!
The HeroSmash trailer is finally complete and it looks AWESOME. If you want to view it all you have to do is click the HeroSmash button in Battleon or /join hsmovie.
You can also access the Premiere Shop, which contains a male and female color custom helm, one of the fan favorite HeroSmash weapons with color custom accents and FINALLY the Panda Launcher back item (click on it to fire a panda) from Thyton's Live Draw Event.
"Yeah, that's right. I have pigtails! YOU WANT A PANDA IN YOUR FACE?!"
These items will all be going rare EXCEPT the Panda Launcher which we will be hiding somewhere in game after the shop is locked.

HeroSmash NEW Release
Wait…it’s still in Alpha…and already there’s a new release? WHAT?
Yup! It’s true! I didn’t believe it either. But just LOOK!
And now go play! Keep an eye out for the little elves Hermie and Doodie. (Heh… Doodie is a funny name…) They’ve got some new quests for you. One’s been nice… and one’s been naughty!

HeroSmash Alpha TODAY!
Are YOU going to help us Alpha Test?
Which is another way of asking "Will you help us break this thing?".
Artix has already begun his Play-By-Play, which you can read over at HeroSmash.
Later today we will be opening the server (remember, the server will have LIMITED SPACE... you might have to wait to log in).
As I said yesterday:
If you have ever upgraded in any BattleOn Games (AdventuerQuest, DragonFable, MechQuest, EpicDuel or AQW) OR ever purchased Z-tokens, Dragon Coins, Nova Gems, Varium or AdventureCoins... and you have that account tied to your BattleOn Games Master Account... then you will be able to create a character and claim your HeroSmash name today!
If you are a CURRENT MEMBER of AQWorlds... and have that account tied to your BattleOn Games Master Account... then you will be able to log in and play as soon as HeroSmash goes live.
Either Way you will need your Master Account to log into the game (just like EpicDuel). Keep your eyes on http://www.HeroSmash.com. That is where you will log in.
Artix has said that the server will open to character creation around sundown here in Florida.
Thanks in advance for helping us test Alpha test, and remember that the game will probably be opening to everyone NEXT SUMMER.. so I guess Alpha Testing is another AQW Member perk! Have fun breaking stuff.

Quibble And HeroSmash
Quibble Arrives Friday!
As promised, Quibble Coinbiter the traveling sales moglin will return THIS friday with his chest (or large red bag, in this case) of never-before-seen-slightly-used items and rares!
As usual most to all of his items will cost AdventureCoins, but as an EXTRA SPECIAL BONUS for the holidays Quibble also has a RARE NON-MEMBER PET that will also be selling for ACs. This will be your only chance to get the rare Randolph the Red Nosed Reinzard pet for non-members!
The rest of his items will also be Frostval themed to help you gear up for our yearly Frostval celebration. Next week we will re-release all of the previous years Frostval adventures, then the following week we will add an ALL NEW Frostval holiday adventure to AQWorlds and adding a load of BRAND NEW HOUSES to AQW!!
This week, you will be following Nythera into the Void. The Chaorruption has reached deep into the core of Nythera and this is your last chance to bring your friend out, if you can. Either way, nobody with her power can be allowed to remain in the clutches of Chaos and you will be dragging Nythera out of the Void... dead or alive.
HeroSmash Alpha Test Begins Tomorrow!
If you missed out on Alpha testing AQW, you DO NOT want to miss out on Alpha testing our newest game!
There are some pretty reasonable limitations to character creation and Alpha Testing as Artix mentioned is his earlier post.
You will need a BattleOn Master Acccount to create your character and/or Alpha Test. Without a Master Account you won't be able to do anything.
You will be able to create your character AND claim your name if you have ever spent a SINGLE DOLLAR on ANY BattleOn game account that you have tied to your Master Account. If you don't have that account tied to your Master Account then you will not be able to create your character.
If, and only if, you have a current, active AQW MEMBERSHIP tied to your Master Account then you will be able to enter HeroSmash and help us Alpha Test.
Please keep in mind that this is just a bare bones version of HeroSmash. We have a long way to go before we event get to Beta Testing and we NEED your feedback to lead us unto Beta phase and make the game great, but keep your expectations reasonable, and above all else have fun.
As Artix mentioned, we will only be Alpha Testing on ONE server which means that only about 1500 people at a time will be able to play. If the server is full, KEEP TRYING! You may be the next to enter the game as soon as someone logs out or lags out.
We have some great and horrible stories from AQW's Alpha Phase. We expect huge disasters in the HS Alpha. HS isn't scheuled for full release until NEXT SUMMER so Alpha Testers will not only be the first ti test HeroSmash, they will be the ONLY people to test it for a long while.
I'm sure there will eventually be treats in HeroSmash for those who help test, but who knows what they will be. Maybe you can tell US what to give to Alpha Testers as soon as we get our HeroSmash Forums up and running!
