Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the same as an upgrade bonus?

Upgrade bonus gear is an extra reward for buying AdventureCoin or Membership packages; new bonus gear comes out roughly every month. Seasonal set packs are bought separately. Just like the Flame Dragon Warrior pack, you can buy the entire set directly, for one price, on our site. You can ALSO buy the individual pieces in-game.

This set will return EVERY June, so if you can't get it now, you'll have another chance in 2020, or 2021, or 2022, etc.

If this isn't a new upgrade bonus, what IS the next bonus?

You can see all the available upgrade bonuses on our upgrade site. The next bonus set will be available soon, so keep an eye on the Design Notes!

What if I just want ONE of the items?

You're in luck! Talk to Garek in Battleon. He'll be selling the individual pieces of the set through May 31st.

Platinum Item of Donated Awesomeness

We've gotten a lot of really positive feedback after introducing the free spins... but also a lot of you who wanted 1) a way to make sure you got an Item of Donated Awesomeness and 2) kept spinning in a quest to get the Epic Item of Donated Awesomeness to drop from the Wheel... and then not didn't get it.

That's why we introduced the Platinum Item of Donated Awesomeness. This item is available from the Doom Merge Shop, so even if you don't receive the EIoDA as a bonus prize, you can save up your Treasure Potions and get the PIoDA.

Important Points

The PIoDA will be a Wheel of Doom merge shop exclusive.
Cost: 1,000 Treasure Potions.
You can get both the EIoDA (from the Wheel) and the PIoDA (from the merge shop)
The PIoDA currently stacks up to x5. We are currently planning to raise the cap later this year.

At a cost of 1,000 Treasure Potions, that means a member who ONLY uses their one free spin per day/week will need to log in every day for about 2.5 years to get it... but they WILL get it eventually.

This Friday: Three Letter Names Available

Have you always wanted a 3-letter name? Read On!

For a short time early on in AQWorlds' life cycle, characters could be created with 3-letter names. We removed that ability due to some backend optimization but now, based on an overwhelming number of requests... we are bringing BACK the ability to give yourself a 3-letter name. This functionality will return tomorrow. Read on for more details!

3-Letter Name Details

Later on next week, we will return the ability to give yourself a 3-letter character name... with a few caveats:

3-letter names will only be available through our "name change" system. (This prevents players from creating a flood of accounts to "steal" three letter names and sit on them, unused.)
You will need to have a confirmed email address on your account.

We are releasing this next week to give anyone who recently changed their name a change to avoid the week-long "name change cooldown" period.

There are currently only 3,206 accounts in AQWorlds with a 3-letter name. That means there are over 30,000 names you could get as soon as we turn this option back on!

How to Change Your Name in AQWorlds

Log into the Account Manager and choose Change Username.
Pick your new username. You will be charged 2000 AdventureCoins.
The name you choose has to be one that is currently available. You can search for a character name to see if it available via Character Lookup.
Starting next week, there will be a 3 letter minimum for names.
Names are available on a first come, first serve basis.

How to get a Name that is Not Available

If the name you want was on a deleted account, you will have to wait for it to be purged from our system (this can take up to 30 days after it was deleted).
Certain accounts will never be deleted, including upgraded accounts, accounts with confirmed email addresses, verified accounts, and others.
We have been renaming "very, very old and inactive" accounts to free up some usernames. We will continue this over time.
If you just changed your name and want your previous name back, you will have to wait the normal 30 days for the account name to be purged and be available to use again

Issue Update: LQS Set Quantity Error

Quantities will be corrected Tuesday at 11:59 PM

Last Friday, our July 2019 Fire and Ice Limited Quantity Shop sets went on sale. Each set has a total number of available sets (with the majority of them available at launch, and the restocks added over the course of the next three days).

Late this weekend, we saw that several sets which had sold out had additional restock quantities added accidentally. If you or your friends purchased any of these sets, you will get to keep them. Whenever issues like this happen on our end, we want to take swift action and mitigate the damage as much as possible, making sure you -- our community -- are not punished for our error.

To avoid punishing other players (who may be visiting the site for the first time and seeing those quantities), we will give everyone a chance to get these "overstocked sets" until 11:59 PM tomorrow. At that point, the sets will be manually set to 0 as they should have been.

What is a Limited Quantity Set?

The Limited Quantity Sets are just what they sounds like... each set has a certain quantity and once that number has sold out then that's it. The total number of sets is the same for everyone, everwhere, so if you see 300 items left on the web page, that's what we've got left in stock.

Log into a special LQS webpage on AQ.com (not into the game!)
Purchase the set using either ACs or gold
Log into AQW and find your set badge in the Book of Lore
Get all the items in the badge shop for 0 ACs (yay free storage!)

Isn't this gear rare, though?

Good question! Limited Quantity Sets aren't considered "rare" until they've sold out. (These aren't limited timepackages, they are limited quantity packages!) Once they do sell out, then they will never become available again!

Restock Schedule

Quantities for the new packages wil partially restock throughout the weekend to give everyone a chance to get the gear they want, no matter what timezone or country they live in.

Backhair Helms! (aka the ones with really long hair in the back)

The helms which have recently become very popular with the long flowing locks which go behind players models have also become a source of frustration for some. There are times and places that long part just does not show up. Unfortunately, this is not a bug and is not something we can easily fix.

Remember here where we talked about layers? This is the reason these helms derp out. The part that goes behind your character model uses a layer that was not originally part of the engine, called backhair. This layer was wiggled in for the sole purpose of obtaining this specific look, as it had been highly requested for years.

This layer does not actually exist on character pages or on item previews, so the long part simply will not show in these areas. This item may also decide not to show for you or for others in the room from time to time. Re-equipping the helm will resolve that. This item also tends not to play nicely with certain long hair styles as well. If you plan to wear the helm a lot, a bald or blank hairstyle is recommended.

The Armour of Derpage! (or why some bits just won't move right)

Going back again to where we talked about the layers, many of you have noticed certain types of derpage on certain armour pieces, where the bits do not move as they would in a normal armour.

Let’s use these pieces as the examples:

Heroic ZombieSlayer Armor
This armour has a beautifully drawn shield which to all appearances, is being properly held. It is not. It is actually attached to the body layer. While this does allow it to have that beautiful, fully rendered look, it does mean the shield does not move with your arm.

Grimlord of Nulgath
This is another example of attaching a piece where it normally does not go in order to get a specific look. In this case, the shoulder piece which is normally blacked out, has been attached to the chest piece as well so that it can be filled in. Again, this means the “shoulder” part will not move normally.
