January Seasonal Set: ArchFiend OverLord

Available every year from January 1st - 31st

January is a month of new beginnings and birthdays in AQWorlds! To help ALL our heroes celebrate the new year and Nulgath's birthday, this month's seasonal set features the ArchFiend OverLord.

Starting now, unlock the ArchFiend OverLord armor and all its accessories!

There are two ways to get the gear:

1) Total package: Buy the entire set directly through the website for $9.99 USD 

2) Individually: Buy each of the individual pieces from Garek the Traveling Gear Merchant in Battleon.

The total cost to buy all of the gear individually is 5,400 ACs, so getting all the gear from the Northern Wanderers pack is a pretty sweet deal (you save 3,400 ACs).

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the same as the monthly upgrade bonus? 

Monthly upgrade bonus gear is an extra reward for buying AdventureCoin or Membership packages. Seasonal set packs are bought separately. Just like the Flame Dragon Warrior pack, you can buy the entire set directly, for one price, on our site. You can ALSO buy the individual pieces in-game.

This set will return EVERY January, so if you can't get it now, you'll have another chance in 2019, or 2020, or 2021, etc.

What if I just want ONE of the items?

You're in luck! Talk to Garek in Battleon. He'll be selling the individual pieces of the set through January 31st.

Where do I get my gear if I buy the full set through the website?

You'll find it in your Book of Lore.

SnowStalker Treasure Chest Set

Now Available in Twilly's Treasure Chest!

Twilly's feeling a bit chilly this New Year's Eve, so he's stocked his Treasure Chests with a new set to keep you warm all winter long: the SnowStalker set! Farm for Treasure Chests as you fight through the game, then open them with his Treasure Chest Keys for a chance to get the gear inside. 

If you have found a Treasure Chest on a monster, you will need a Magic Treasure Chest Key to open it! If you need a key, Twilly is selling some for 200 ACs. If you have everything you need, just click Open My Chest, complete the quest and see what you got!

Treasure Chests?

There is a small chance to get a mysterious Treasure Chest as a reward drop when you battle ANY monster in-game. Have you found one yet?

Treasure chests are a fun - but completely optional - way to get exclusive items in AdventureQuest Worlds. The chests have a less than 1% chance of dropping from ANY monster in the entire game. Each one contains one of over 215 epic items that you can't get anywhere else (and the number will keep growing)!

• All of the items are 0 AC so you can store them for free 
• All of the items are non-member so you can use them forever

There's just one problem. You can't open the Treasure Chests without a Magic Key. The good news is that Twilly (the little red Moglin in Battleon) has a few extras and will happily sell you one for 200 ACs and open your chest for you.

Monthly Membership Perk Arrives Wednesday, December 1st

Members, log in and talk to Twilly this Sunday to claim your two FREE treasure chest keys! Collect treasure chests as you battle through Lore, then use the keys to open them for new free items.

Late-Night Reflections on our Gaming Community

(Edit: this was posted around 2 AM on Christmas Eve, on Twitter) As I sit at my desk listening to the cat snore... going over the gear the team's gotten set up for the release coming later tonight, I've been watching videos from community streamers like Korey and MsVyris.

This has been a crazy few years. One of the brightest spots has been seeing all of the community leaders and creators out there - the streamers, guild leaders, giveaway hosts, fan artists, etc. The time and effort you put in is a huge part of why our community is incredible.

One of the big topics of discussion in our team meetings the last few months is how we can continue shining a light on the people and groups helping make the game and community more fun for their fellow heroes. This is something we'll continue focusing in the next year.

For those of you who out there now, making videos, holding guild events or giveaways, creating art... thank you. You are Artix Entertainment. You're why we're here. I can't wait to see what we do together in 2022.

Last week, you traveled with Valencia back to her childhood home to celebrate Frostval. But when her cousin vanished, she needed your help to find her... and fast! This weekend - With Trissa's life on the line - your adventure continues! Starting tonight, our Frostval 2021 Wilde Hunt WAR is on! 

While Valencia sneaks into the feasting hall to uncover the mystery behind Huntress Valais, an ice-cold onslaught of monsters is ahead of you.  Your victory, and Valencia's discovery, are the key to seeing Frostval morning's rising sun.

This week, we have several updates for you as we race towards Frostval Eve:

• Friday: our 500 Free AdventureCoins gift arrives for eligible heroes

If this is your first time participating in an in-game war event, read on!

• Battle monsters to complete war medal quests. 
• Turn the quests in to raise the war meter
• Collect the resources that drop to spend in Valencia's Wild Hunt merge shop on items
• Once the war meter hits 100%, the war boss will be unlocked
• Battle the war boss for additional rewards tonight, and the return Friday for even more gear drops

In the spirit of being a calendar class with a twist, this year’s calendar class is support-focused: Its powerful offensive buffs provide your entire team a boost, while powering up its special damage mechanic!

Continuum Chronomancer Class Details

Description: Recommended enhancement: Lucky. Continuum Chronomancers use their command of the timeline matrix to traverse reality.

Mana Regen: Continuum Chronomancers gain mana from all hits landed in combat, and especially on crits. The amount depends on damage relative to *their own* HP total.

Skill Breakdown

Quantum Rift: Warp space-time to damage your target. Applies Temporal Rift for 30 seconds, which stacks up to 4 and is used by your other skills.

Target: Enemy
Max Targets: 1
Type: Physical
Range: Melee
Cooldown: 2.5 seconds

Temporal Rift is used by calendar classes to track the amount of damage dealt, to be used by their other skills. Because Continuum Chronomancer applies Temporal Rift on its auto attack, you will automatically gain all 4 stacks once you land four auto attacks!

a1: Quantum Fracture: Fracture and fragment your foe's reality to harm their past and future selves. Inflicts Quantum Fracturing and Quantum Fragmenting, reducing their Defense and Dodge by 10% for 10 seconds, stacks to 3.

Type: Physical/Magical
Range: Infinite
MP: 20 
Cooldown: 3 seconds

Your conventional, time-traveling super-agent move that weakens your foe and makes them less capable of dodging. A 30% decrease to defense and evasion at max stacks makes this a helpful addition to any party.

a2: Quantum Shift: Distort the timeline to alter combat capabilities. Applies Quantum Shift to you and your allies, increasing Crit Chance and Defense by 30% for 10 seconds.

Range: Infinite
MP: 30 
Cooldown: 10 seconds

A powerful support skill that offers another helping of Crit and Defense. While this seems to be a fairly ordinary support skill, its Rank 10 effect turns this skill on its head...

a3: Quantum Restructure: Hack into reality for a brief moment and rebuild it in your favor. Applies Quantum Restructure to increase Evasion by 80%, reduce Incoming Damage, Incoming Physical, Incoming Magical, and Incoming DoT taken by 20% each, while inflicting Quantum Rupture to reduce your foe’s stats by the same amounts. Both effects last 2 seconds. Never misses nor crits.

Type: Physical/Magical
Range: Infinite
MP: 20 
Cooldown: 12 seconds

An extremely powerful skill that temporarily shreds your foe’s defenses. Allows the Continuum Chronomancer to deal much more damage for those two seconds. The heavy dodge debuff also gives your team a chance to lay down longer-lasting debuffs without fear of missing. Combo this with Quantum Fracture to leave your foes permanently worse for wear.

a4: Quantum Convergence: Perceive and control the source of your powers as they were meant to be. Inflicts Quantum Convergence for 10 seconds, a heavy DoT. If Temporal Rift is active, consume it to deal damage to your target based on the damage you've dealt in the last 10 seconds while Temporal Rift was active.

Cooldown: 14 seconds

A combination nuke + DoT skill that truly takes advantage of your Rank 10 ability. Build stacks of Rift, Rupture your foe, and then hit them with Convergence while your stacks are concentrated for heavy damage!

p1: Red Vision: Your superhuman reflexes increase your Dodge and Haste by 15%.

p2: Delayed Deadline: Your mastery over the simulated reality grants you superhuman abilities, increasing your Endurance by 50%.

p3: Quantum Spiral: Quantum Shift also applies stacks of Quantum Spiral to you for each friendly target affected, increasing your Crit Modifier and DoT damage by 10% for 23 seconds, stacks to 40 but cannot be refreshed.

The key mechanic of the class, you gain more stacks of Quantum Spiral the more people are in the room with you. A 4-person ultra boss team will make you gain +40% Crit Multiplier and DoT damage with each cast (+10% per person, per cast), while a 7 person room stacks up even faster. Because this effect does not refresh, you will lose all stacks after 23 seconds, so time your skills to take advantage of this.

Conclusion

Continuum Chronomancer is a calendar class built to tackle group fights. Take note that this class does not heal -- although it is not meant to replace your defensive, healing support class, this “calendar level support class” is a powerful partner to that class, as well as to any team that needs an offensive support that can itself deal plenty of damage.

Helping Where We Can

Donation made on your behalf to help the relief effort

Our hearts go out to everyone impacted by Super Typhoon Rai, which struck the Philippines last Friday. We know that many of our players and some of our team members in the Philippines (as well as players in parts of China, Palau, Micronesia, and Malaysia) have been personally affected by this. On behalf of you and all the players in our Artix Entertainment videogame community, we've made a donation of $5,016 USD (250,000 Philippine pesos) to the Philippine Red Cross, to help in the relief effort.

Be safe and know that we're thinking of you.* We hope this contribution helps. And if you, your friends, or your family are in a position to help, we encourage you to do what you can. You can donate to relief efforts through the official Philippine Red Cross website.

*Just in case it takes a while for power to be restored in some areas, we're going to leave all our holiday events up for a couple extra weeks — we won't pull Frostval events in our games until after January.

Chilly's Frostval Gifting Event

Chilly wants to help you and ALL the heroes of Lore have the merriest Frostval EVER! That's why he's on his way back to Battleon this December 15th. Once he arrives, talk to him to donate AdventureCoins to a random hero to make their holiday bright. Donating ACs will unlock in-game items as our way of rewarding your generosity. The names of generous heroes will be displayed on our Donation Showcase webpage. 

One of the best parts of our videogame community is seeing heroes helping each other. Some help new players in-game, and many others will host activities, scavenger hunts, or do Artix Point giveaways on social media. We want to help bring that spirit of giving in-game.

How to donate AdventureCoins to other heroes

Log in and talk to Chilly in Battleon. Choose to donate AdventureCoins, check out the Donation Leaderboard, or see the items in the Generosity Coin Merge Shop.

• Confirm your choice* 
• Click the confirmation button and the game will choose a random hero to receive your gift!

• You'll get one Generosity Coin the first time you donate each day. 
• You can donate any amount to get a Generosity Coin each day. 
• Spend the coins or save them up to get gear from the seasonal merge shop.
• Every donation you make counts toward your Donation Leaderboard total

Frostval Gifting Rewards

Like in both EpicDuel and AdventureQuest, Chilly will have exclusive rewards and a leaderboard for heroes who donate. In AQWorlds, we're also introducing a new element: the Generosity Coin Merge Shop.

• The first time you donate each day, you'll automatically get a Generosity Coin. 
• Spend them (or save them up) to get exclusive gear from the merge shop.
• In addition to their exclusive prize packs, top donators on the leaderboard will automatically unlock all of the merge shop items in their Book of Lore badge shop at the end of the gifting event.

You can unlock each armor in the shop and the Frosty Vamparagon Pet for 2 GC each. The helms, capes, and all the weapons are 1 GC each. The shop gear is seasonal, so if you can't get everything you want this year, you'll have another chance next year!

Frostval Gifting FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

How much can I donate per day? There is no limit to how many times you can donate each day. (There is a limit on how many upgrade packs an account can buy each day.)

How much can I win each day? There is no limit to how many times in a day you can receive a random AC gift.

What are the requirements to donate? Account at least 2 weeks old, at least level 30, verified email

What are the requirements to get a gift? Account at least 2 weeks old, online in the last 24 hours, at least level 15, verified email

Can I choose who gets my donation? Nope! In the spirit of the season, your gift will go to a random eligible hero. Make someone's bright... even if you don't know who they are!

Can staff accounts get on the leaderboard or give to players? Nope! Team members' staff accounts can only give to other staff accounts. They will not appear on the public leaderboard. Team members' normal (regular player) accounts can give to other players and may appear on the leaderboard.

How will I be notified if I get a gift? You'll see a message when you login if you've received a gift since your last login note

What are the reward tiers? See the list above!

How long will this be available? Through January 3rd, prizes to be awarded on Jan 4th

Will the rewards go rare? Tier rewards will go rare, generosity shop gear is seasonal

Does the amount of AC donated affect your merge coins received per donation? You can get a max of 1 Generosity Coin per day, awarded the first time you donate for the day. Every donation you make will contribute to your leaderboard total

So, is this REALLY totally random? It really is! The game will look for any eligible account on any server and will randomly choose who to give your prize to. You cannot specify which character will get your ACs.

What if I'm offline? The game will look for any account that was logged in within the last 24 hours. If you aren't online when you get a gift, it will still be added to your account the next time you log in.

When do I get notified? There are currently a few ways of being notified you received a gift: when doing battles or switching maps in-game, or when you log in. 

What if I make a mistake and donate the wrong amount? The game will ask you each time if you’re sure you want to donate that amount. We cannot give refunds for incorrect donations, so please check and double-check before you hit the donate button and before you confirm the donation amount.

What if I pick the wrong item in the Generosity Shop? Can I get my Generosity Coin back? We cannot give refunds for Generosity Coin shop purchases, so please check and double-check before you spend a GC on an item in the merge shop. 

Can I see how much I've donated, or how much I've received? Yes! Log in to your account manager to see your gifts and what you've given.

Frozen Forest Hunt + LQS

Battle through the Northlands this weekend

Deep inside the Northland Woods, a monster has been slaying forest creatures; reports indicate that townspeople have gone missing, too. Log in and /join deerhunt this weekend. Hunt for a beast that until today was just a myth, but is now a deadly reality.

Talk to Gundahar in /deerhunt to complete his quests, then battle to unlock all of the pieces of his WinterWild Warrior armor set in his merge shop.

Frostval Gift Farm Update

Head to /frostvale to find Gieferocious, the newest Giftbox monster. We've added this third monster and redistributed the item drops from Giefury and Giefurious to help improve your reward farming experience. (Giefury's loot table had gotten up to 40+ items... his cardboard skeleton was breaking under the weight of all those gifts!)

What is a Limited Quantity Set?

The Limited Quantity Sets are just what they sounds like... each set has a certain quantity and once that number has sold out then that's it. The total number of sets is the same for everyone, everwhere, so if you see 300 items left on the web page, that's what we've got left in stock.

How Do Limited Quantity Sets Work?

1. Log into a special LQS webpage on AQ.com (not into the game!) 
2. Purchase the set using either ACs or gold
3. Log into AQW and find your set badge in the Book of Lore 
4. Get all the items in the badge shop for 0 ACs (yay free storage!)

Server Performance and Bug Fixes

What is the "ServerTest" server?

This is an updated version of the regular Live AQW servers, with some performance and bug fixes.  This is NOT the "new" AQW mobile server.

Before rolling out changes to the live servers on Friday, we need to make sure there are no mysterious bugs or side effects to the code changes.

Want to help test?  Here is how: 

Log into the "ServerTest" server and just play the game like normal. 

If you have any strange problems or bugs, keep a note of them.   Then logout, and log into one of the regular Live servers, and try the exact same actions again. 

If the problem bug is ONLY on the ServerTest server, please Report the bug at the Bugs site.

Remember: This is testing SERVER issues only.  Do not report client bugs like menu and animation issues.

• When trying to join a map that has a broken room instance, there is a better chance now of getting assigned to a working instance of the map, instead of nothing happening.
• Using class skills immediately after Class Rank up will no longer kick you.
• Killing your own character in PVP will not award a score for either team.

• Selling items when you are at the max gold cap, will refund zero gold, but the item will be removed from your inventory. Fixes house item selling bug.
• Fixed lots of random bugs, where player data is "missing" and the server tries to make changes anyway.
• In PVP zones, it is no longer allowed to Get items from your Bank.  You can store items, but can not swap or pull items from Bank. 
• Added cool downs to guild,friend, and duel invites.  Less spam!

• Better warning messages when guild, party, and friend actions fail.
• Buying items that are higher than your character level are blocked.
• Item drops from monsters will now have enhancement level equal to your char level, unless the item is a higher than your char level. It will not be enhanced.
• If you try to go to a player house that does not exist, and you already own a home, you will get an warning message, instead of going to the buyhouse map.
• Removed an old process that would often lag the entire system every 15 minutes.
• If you log into another game server, this server will show a warning message, instead of Kick for some actions, like quest turn-in, equipping gear.  More improvements in this area will be coming soon.
• Faster server reboot time.
• Many other behind-the-scenes performance and bug fixes.
